Tennessee landed an impressive recruit from the 2025 class of Wednesday afternoon with EDGE rusher Jayden Loftin. The 6-foot-4 prospect committed to Tennessee over Syracuse, Wisconsin, and Penn State.

Loftin published his announcement through X on Wednesday, letting the Vols’ team and the Tennessee fanbase know he was locked in “6000%.”

From Somerville High School in Somerville, NJ, Loftin ranks as a four-star EDGE prospect according to 247 Sports’ Composite rankings. Loftin also lands as the No. 344 prospect nationally, the No. 27 EDGE in the class, and the No. 12 player from New Jersey.

Loftin is Tennessee’s fourth highest-rated recruit in the class overall and the second highest-rated defensive player behind four-star defensive lineman Ethan Utley.

Playing with versatility and length, the 6-foot-4, 250-pound EDGE has a knack for getting after the quarterback using power, speed, and athleticism.

Loftin continues the trend of Tennessee’s success recruiting the EDGE position over the last few seasons, nabbing five-star Jordan Ross from the 2024 class, four-stars Caleb Herring and Chandavian Bradley in the 2023 class, and four-stars James Pearce Jr. and Joshua Josephs from the 2022 class.

Rodney Garner is one of the most valued names for the position across the sport and has proven both career success and recent success. Pearce, for instance, was named a preseason All-SEC First Team selection from Athlon Sports this past week and is widely projected as the potential No. 1 overall draft pick in next year’s NFL Draft.

The Vols continue to load up with talent to attack the quarterback as one of the most important aspects of the defensive game.

Loftin is Tennessee’s 11th overall commit in the 2025 class and is the Vols’ fourth four-star player. The New Jersey native is also Tennessee’s lone EDGE commit so far in the class.

The Vols’ 2025 group ranks No. 19 nationally and No. 8 in the SEC according to 247’s team standings.
