VFL Trey Smith is looking for his third straight Super Bowl victory this Sunday night, going back to where he started to attempt the now-trademarked three-peat.

Smith’s first Super Bowl ring came during his second year in the league as the Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, AZ.

The Chiefs returned to the big game the following season as Smith and Kansas City defeated VFL Jauan Jennings and the San Francisco 49ers to claim the trophy.

Smith and the Chiefs will now stare down the Eagles once more as Kansas City looks for a third straight championship on Sunday in New Orleans.

With his second Super Bowl victory in 2023, Smith became the Vols’ ninth player in program history to capture multiple NFL championships and was the first since VFL Peyton Manning did so. Smith also became just the fourth player in Tennessee history to win back-to-back Super Bowls and was the first to do so since Alvin Harper and Bill Bates did so with the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowls XXVII and XXVIII.

Smith would become Tennessee’s first back-to-back-to-back Super Bowl winner with a victory on Sunday but will become the fourth Tennessee player to play in at least three Super Bowls regardless. Smith joins quarterback Peyton Manning, linebacker Jack Reynolds, and defensive back Bill Bates in that category.

Smith has been terrific at the right guard position for the Chiefs this season and earned the first Pro Bowl selection of his career with the success. The former Vol earned a pair of All-SEC selections during his time playing collegiate football at Tennessee.

The Kansas City Chiefs (17-2) will take on the Philadelphia Eagles (17-3) on Sunday evening in Super Bowl LIX. The game will be broadcast on FOX at 6:30 p.m. ET.
