No. 19 Tennessee earned a signature season victory with an 80-76 win over No. 5 UConn on Thursday night in Knoxville.

The non-conference thriller resulted in Tennessee’s first win over UConn since 2007 after four straight losses from 2020 to 2023.

Tennessee forward Zee Spearman put up a team-high 16 points in the win and made a clutch layup to extend the Lady Vols’ lead to four with just 15 seconds remaining in the game. Spearman was one of four double-digit scorers on Thursday night for Tennessee alongside Samara Spencer with 14, Jewel Spear with 12, and Talaysia Cooper with 11.

The Lady Vols move to 17-5 on the season with a road clash at No. 6 LSU this Sunday afternoon on the horizon.

After the game, Tennessee head coach Kim Caldwell and UConn head coach Geno Auriemma met with the media to discuss their thoughts on the game. Caldwell was joined by Samara Spencer and Jewel Spear while Auriemma was alongside guard Paige Bueckers and guard KK Arnold.
