More from RTI: Tennessee Excelled In One Particular Recruiting Aspect With the 2025 Class
Hopkins lands as a fringe three/four-star prospect according to the major recruiting sites with On3 Sports tagging him as the No. 81 player in the class, the No. 8 cornerback in the nation, and the No. 4 player from the state of Tennessee.
Hopkins has been active in his recruitment in 2025. According to Simmons’ reporting, Hopkins “met with over 20 schools in January,” changing his commitment timeline. Originally planning to announce his commitment in the summer, Hopkins feels ready to go ahead and drop the news in mid-February.
According to 247’s timeline, Hopkins has been to Knoxville on four different occasions since Tennessee offered him a scholarship last April. Hopkins attended a spring practice and the spring game last year before heading back over to Knoxville for a school camp in June. Hopkins was also at the Vols’ game against Alabama in October.
If Tennessee can land the commitment on Feb. 17, Hopkins would make for the Vols’ first defensive back commit in the 2026 recruiting class. Tennessee’s class currently ranks No. 5 in the nation and only has two defensive players out of the seven committed already. Hopkins would be Tennessee’s highest-rated defensive commit if he does choose the Vols.
