4 Nations Face-Off: USA vs. Canada odds and preview

The USA beat Canada 3-1 in group play last Saturday in Montreal. Jake Guentzel scored twice for the U.S., which upended the pre-tourney favorites with three unanswered goals after Connor McDavid gave the hosts a 1-0 lead.

The game was full of action from the get-go with several fights breaking out in the opening minutes. Now, the scene shifts to Boston for the title showdown after the Americans and Canadians finished atop the group standings at 2-1 apiece.

The championship odds are as even as it gets. The USA and Canada were both -110 on the moneyline at the three main sportsbooks (DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM) as of Thursday afternoon.

On the puck line, USA -1.5 was priced at +235 at FanDuel while Canada +1.5 was holding at -275 at BetMGM.

Thursday’s total is set at 5.5 goals, with the juice tilted decidedly to the under, including -134 at FanDuel. Over 5.5 was priced at +110.

BetMGM reported early Thursday that Team USA had garnered 57 percent of the moneyline bets and 52 percent of the handle.

And while Canada is getting standout defenseman Cale Makar back after he missed the first U.S. game with an illness, the American squad is dealing with a spate of injuries.

Defenseman Charlie McAvoy has already been ruled out with a shoulder injury and has been replaced by Quinn Hughes, the reigning Norris Trophy winner. Hughes, though, will only be able to play Thursday if the U.S. suffers another defensive injury, per tourney regulations.

The rest of the banged-up U.S. players, including Auston Matthews and Matthew and Brady Tkachuk, are expected to play Thursday.
