Tennessee guard Talaysia Cooper reeled off a team-high 18 points in a win over Florida on Sunday afternoon in Gainesville.
The No. 15 Lady Vols defeated the Gators by a score of 86-78, outscoring Florida by 17 points in the second half despite trailing by nine at halftime. Tennessee scored just 12 points and 16 points in the first two quarters before erupting for 37 points and 21 points in the final two quarters.
The Lady Vols had four double-digit scorers aside from Cooper including Zee Spearman with 16, Samara Spencer with 11, and Jewel Spear and Ruby Whitehorn with 10 each. Spear led the team with three assists while Spencer had a game-high 11 rebounds.
Tennessee’s win on Sunday was good for the Lady Vols’ fourth in a row after sweeping a three-game home stand. The Lady Vols have now won six out of their last seven games including a win over No. 5 UConn.
Tennessee will close out the regular season with a road game against No. 14 Kentucky on Thursday and a home game against Georgia next Sunday.
After the game in Gainesville, Tennessee head coach Kim Caldwell met with the media to discuss the win.
