Kilen led the way for Tennessee at the plate, slugging two of the Vols’ four solo home runs on the day. Kilen’s first bomb came in his first at-bat, when the former Louisville Cardinal cranked a 394-foot shot to right field to give Tennessee a 1-0 lead.
In his next at-bat, the Tennessee infielder launched an opposite-field homer to left-field to give Tennessee a 2-0 lead. The long ball marked Kilen’s second of the game in as many at-bats, fourth in the last three games and fifth of the season.
Kilen added a single later in the game to finish the day 3-5 at the plate with the two homers. Additionally, the two long balls gave Kilen the sole home run lead on the team.

Doyle was the starting pitcher for Tennessee and was crisp once again. The hard-throwing lefty tallied nine strikeouts in 4.1 scoreless innings of work and allowed just three hits and no runs. The former Ole Miss Rebel continues to excel as Tennessee’s ace and has now thrown a whopping 34 strikeouts in just 14.2 innings.
“He’s more enjoyable to be around when he is wearing your uniform,” Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello said about Doyle. “What you don’t see is, away from the action, he’s as relaxed and fun-loving as a guy you would want. And you wish you could kind of sprinkle that formula on all your players… Liam’s got a good fun balance that works for him. But that word ‘fun,’ he makes it really fun to be around him. And then of course when he’s competing, he’s as good as it gets as far as sitting in the dugout and having that guy throwing the ball for you.”
