Tennessee football has landed three transfers in the spring portal window to date, bringing in a quarterback to compete for the starting job, a cornerback who will push for playing time and a defensive line to provide depth.
The most notable transfer Tennessee landed was quarterback Joey Aguilar who comes to Knoxville after a semester at UCLA and two seasons at Appalachian State. Last season at App State, Aguilar completed 56% of his passes for 3,003 yards, 23 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He also added 207 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns during the 2024 season.
Cornerback Colton Hood comes to Tennessee after spending last season at Colorado and starting his college career in the SEC at Auburn.
Hood played a large role for Deion Sanders’ squad last season, totaling 24 tackles, six pass breakups and two interceptions. The Georgia native will be a starter if Jermod McCoy isn’t ready for the start of the season and will have a sizable role even if McCoy is back.
Grand Valley defensive lineman Josh Schell can play strongside defensive end and defensive tackle but will likely prove to be a depth piece at defensive tackle this fall.
