Tennessee football commit Tyreek King shut down his recruitment on Tuesday amidst a push from a number of schools to flip the blue-chip receiver. Alabama, Georgia, Missouri and Southern Cal were amongst the schools trying to get King to take an official visit this summer.
“Tennessee’s culture is something I want to be a part of,” King told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “Best fit for me & knowing I’m for sure gonna develop, no place like the VOLS , BEEN HOME!!!”
King is Tennessee’s second highest rated commit according to the 247sports composite rankings. King ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 88 player in the country. He also ranks as the No. 11 receiver nationally and the No. 4 player in the state of Tennessee in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
A local product, King plays at Knoxville Catholic High School. The 5-foot-10, 168-pound receiver put up big numbers in his junior season for the Irish despite the team’s struggles in a 3-8 campaign that saw them deal with injuries to the quarterback position.

Still, King caught 49 passes for 1,062 yards and 14 touchdowns. He posted similar stats in his sophomore season where he totaled 1,060 yards and 13 touchdowns.
King committed to Tennessee on the final day of October shortly after he unofficially visited for the Vols’ matchup against Alabama at Neyland Stadium. He also unofficially visited for the Kent State game in September ahead of his commitment to Josh Heupel and his staff.
A smaller receiver, King projects as a slot receiver in college and has the run after catch ability to excel in that role in Heupel’s offense. King hasn’t taken any visits since he committed to the Vols but has an official visit scheduled at Tennessee in June.
Tennessee has seven commitments in its 2026 recruiting class in the moment including one other receiver in three-star North Carolina native Tyran Evans. The Vols’ seven commit class currently ranks No. 27 nationally and No. 6 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.
