Tennessee basketball went to Europe to complete its 2025 recruiting class late last month, landing French shooting guard Clarence Massamba.
After wrapping up his season with the AC Monaco U21 team late last week, Massamba made the trip across the Atlantic Ocean to arrive on campus for his official visit. Vol hoops shared photos from Massamba’s visit on social media Monday afternoon.

Tennessee basketball returnees and newcomers begin arriving on campus this week and next week for the start of summer school and summer workouts. It’s uncertain but logic indicates that Massamba will remain in Knoxville ahead of the official start of summer workouts next week.
Massamba comes to Tennessee after playing two seasons at The Rock School in Florida and a season playing on the AC Monaco U21 team in France. The French guard is a high-level athlete with a jump shot that’s been solid to this point in his basketball career.

A 19-year old, Massamba averaged 9.8 points on 45% shooting from the field and 34% shooting from three-point range for the AC Monaco U21 team last season. He added 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
Massamba averaged 13 points and five rebounds per game during the 2023-24 season with The Rock School. Massamba was an efficient scorer, shooting 53% from the field and 42% from three-point range. He has the reputation of a good defender, averaging 1.5 steals per game while helping the Lions win the state championship.
“We are happy to welcome Clarence and his family to the Tennessee basketball program,” Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes said in a statement. “Once we identified Clarence as a player of interest, we immediately became excited about his impressive upside. He is a long, athletic, versatile guard who can really attack in the open court. He is good with the ball in his hands, yet also possesses the ability to excel without it.
“Clarence has a nice feel for the game and an excellent basketball IQ. He is a hard-working, driven young man who plays with a chip on his shoulder and our fans will love seeing the way he competes.”
Massamba has a chance to compete for playing time at shooting guard along with Louisiana Tech transfer Amaree Abram, sophomore Bishop Boswell and freshman Amari Evans.
