Schedule Change: First Pitch Time Moved Up For Tennessee-Vanderbilt In SEC Tournament

HOOVER, Ala. — The first pitch time for Tennessee baseball’s matchup against rival Vanderbilt in the SEC Tournament Semifinals is now set for 11 a.m. ET on Saturday morning due to projected inclement weather later in the day.

The game was originally set for a 1 p.m. ET start with the other semifinal game to follow 30 minutes following the conclusion of the matchup.

Tom Hart, Chris Burke, Kyle Peterson and Kris Budden are on the call for the SEC Network in the Saturday semifinals matchups.

Tennessee is back in the SEC Tournament Semifinals for the fourth time in the last five years after knocking off Alabama 15-10 in the second round Wednesday afternoon and top-seeded Texas 7-5 in 12 innings during Thursday’s quarterfinals matchups.

With their win over Texas Thursday, multiple publications are now projecting the Vols to earn a top 16 overall seed and host a regional the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament. A win over the Commodores would go a long way to solidifying a host spot for Tennessee.

Standing in the Vols’ way of another SEC Tournament Championship appearance is rival Vanderbilt. The Commodores took two out of three games over Tennessee in a hotly contested regular season series in Knoxville earlier this month.

Vanderbilt earned a double-bye in the SEC Tournament after earning the four-seed with a 19-11 SEC record. The Commodores knocked off Oklahoma 6-1 late Thursday night to advance to the semifinals against Tennessee.

The quarterfinal games on the other side of the bracket are being played Friday. Ole Miss leads Arkansas at the time of publication while LSU will take on surging Texas A&M in the final quarterfinal matchup Friday night.

First pitch for Sunday’s championship game is set for 3 p.m. ET with ESPN2 broadcasting the game. The NCAA Tournament selection committee will announce the 16 host sites on Sunday night before the full selection show Monday.
