Tennessee Baseball Will Host A Regional
While we don’t know Tennessee’s draw, we do know that the Vols will host the Knoxville Regional for the second straight year.
The Vols posted a 43-16 (16-14 SEC) record to this point in the season. After dropping its final five SEC series of the regular season, Tennessee was on the outside looking in of the hosting bubble entering the SEC Tournament.
But Tennessee went 2-1 at the SEC Tournament with resume building wins over Alabama and Texas. That was enough for the Vols to earn a regional hosting bid.
Where The Latest Projections Have Tennessee Landing
Both D1Baseball and Baseball America released NCAA Tournament Field of 64 projections on Sunday morning before the final conference championship games.
D1Baseball had Tennessee as its No. 14 overall seed, hosting two-seed West Virginia, three-seed Western Kentucky and four-seed Miami (Ohio). The projected super regional matchup was a road trip to face No. 3 Arkansas.
Baseball America has Tennessee as its No. 13 overall seed, hosting two-seed Kansas, three-seed ETSU and four-seed Binghampton in the Knoxville Regional. The Vols would potentially face No. 4 overall seed North Carolina in the super regional.
Tennessee Has Been Stellar In Home Regionals Under Tony Vitello
The 2025 season is the fourth time that Tennessee has hosted a Knoxville Regional under head coach Tony Vitello. The Vols have been highly successful in those three regionals. Tennessee not only advanced through all three regionals but was a perfect 9-0 in those games.
In 2021, Tennessee walked off Wright State in its opening game before twice defeating Liberty to advance to the Knoxville Super Regional. In 2022, Tennessee defeated Alabama State, Campbell and Georgia Tech to advance. Tennessee started off its national championship run a season ago with regional wins over Northern Kentucky, Indiana and Southern Miss by a combined 33-12 difference.
