Kennesaw State Transfer Pitcher Commits To Tennessee Baseball

Tennessee baseball has its first commitment in the transfer portal for the 2025 cycle, landing Kennesaw State right-handed pitcher Bo Rhudy on Thursday afternoon.

Rhudy has been a key piece of Kennesaw State’s bullpen each of the last two seasons, posting a 2-0 record, 3.16 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 37 innings pitched during his sophomore season with the Owls. The right hander was equally effective during his freshman season, posting a 4-1 record, 2.78 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 35.2 innings pitched.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound pitcher earned First Team All-ASUN honors for his play during his freshman season and First Team All-CUSA honors during his sophomore season. He had a 0.51 ERA in 17.2 innings pitched in CUSA play this past season.

A Chickamauga native in north Georgia, Rhudy thrice earned Chattanooga Times Free Press Best of Preps honors at Gordon Lee High School.

Rhudy threw twice against power four teams during his sophomore season, allowing one earned run in 0.2 innings against Georgia and three earned runs in 2.2 innings against West Virginia. Rhudy’s longest outing of the season came against Western Kentucky when he struck out three batters in 4.1 innings pitched.

Rhudy had an eight appearance stretch in over a month span where he did not allow a single earned run in 10.1 innings pitched. Seven of his 13 earned runs on the season came in two of his 21 outings. The all-conference selection is a fastball/slider pitcher, leaning heavily on his low-90s fastball. He posted an impressive 29.9% strikeout rate with an exceptional 3.4% walk rate.

It’s the second straight year that Tennessee has landed a transfer pitcher from Kennesaw State, landing right-handed pitcher Tanner Franklin.

Franklin is one of a number of Tennessee pitchers that could be off to professional baseball after this season, opening up the need for good arms in the transfer portal. Starters Liam Doyle and Marcus Phillips as well as bullpen arms AJ Russell, Brandon Arvidson and Nate Snead.

The Vols do return a number of key pitchers from this year’s team including Tegan Kuhns, Dylan Loy, Brayden Krenzel and Austin Breedlove.
