Another college baseball season has come and gone as LSU reclaimed its spot atop the college baseball world Sunday, knocking off Coastal Carolina to win the 2025 national championship.

The official end of the season means Tennessee’s run as the reigning national champion is now over. Tony Vitello’s squad had the best title defense of any recent champion, posting a 46-19 (16-14 SEC) record and returning to the super regional for the fifth straight time.

But Tennessee’s season ended in the super regional, falling to rival Arkansas in two games in Fayetteville. The Vols were unable to make it back to Omaha for the third straight season as their title defense came to a close in a two-game sweep.

The Vols started the season red-hot, winning their first 21 games and jumping out to a 29-2 (9-1 SEC) start. But Tennessee struggled in the back half of SEC play, losing its final four SEC series to some of the nation’s top teams. A solid run in the SEC Tournament predated the previous solid showing in the NCAA Tournament.

With the season in the rearview, various outlets are beginning to release their final top 25 rankings for the 2025 season. Here’s where Tennessee landed, moving up from the previous rankings to close the regular season.
