With the season in the rearview, Tennessee baseball players are off across the country playing in different collegiate summer leagues.

Levi Clark is one of Tennessee’s top returning players and is playing for the Wareham Gatemen in the Cape Cod League this summer. Clark is showcasing the power hitting in the wood bat summer league that he did during his freshman season in Knoxville, bashing a solo homer on Sunday night.

The Cape Cod League is the nation’s top collegiate summer league. The league only invites top rising stars in college baseball and Clark has the makings of just that for Tennessee.

Clark hit .289 with 10 home runs, nine doubles and 34 RBIs while playing in 51 games and starting in 38 games during his true freshman season. The Georgia native also finished the season third on Tennessee’s team with 35 walks on his way to a .289/.459/.594 slash line.

The utility man started the season red-hot for Tennessee but struggled early in SEC play, falling out of the starting lineup. But Clark got going again late in the season, finishing the year as Tennessee’s starting designated hitter and hitting in the seven-spot. Clark slashed .220/.407/.463 with two home runs and four doubles in 17 SEC games.

Tennessee needs players to step up into bigger roles in the lineup in 2026 after likely losing Gavin Kilen, Dean Curley, Andrew Fischer, Hunter Ensley, Dalton Bargo, Reese Chapman and Cannon Peebles to either the mLB Draft or graduation this summer.

Clark came to Tennessee as a catcher but mostly played left field or first base when he wasn’t serving as designated hitter last season. Tennessee has opening at both spots this offseason and Clark could feasibly start at either spot while also being a capable catching option.

The Gatemen started Clark in left field Sunday night but the Georgia native will likely get starting opportunities at multiple spots this summer in the Cape Cod League.
