Five former Tennessee Vols appear to be playing in NBA Summer League games this July.
Two of Tennessee’s former players were selected in the NBA Draft, while three signed undrafted contracts with teams in the aftermath of the draft.
The Detroit Pistons selected Chaz Lanier with the 37th overall pick, while Jahmai Mashack was taken by the Memphis Grizzlies with the final pick of the draft at No. 59.
Zakai Zeigler will be playing alongside Lanier with the Pistons this summer, while Jordan Gainey is set to play with the Suns. Former Tennessee transfer Igor Milicic Jr. signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, but is unlikely to play in the summer league due to an injury he sustained during the draft process (we’ll still list the 76ers in the scheduling notes, though, just to keep track of things).
The NBA Summer League is split up into three sites with the California Classic, the Salt Lake City Summer League, and the Las Vegas NBA 2K26 Summer League.
The NBA 2K26 Summer League will feature all 30 teams, while the Cali Classic and Salt Lake City S.L. will only have four teams each. The Cali Classic will feature the Warriors, Lakers (Dalton Knecht), Heat, and the Spurs. The Salt Lake City S.L. will include the Jazz, Thunder, Grizzlies (Jahmai Mashack), and the 76ers (Igor Milicic Jr.*).
Ultimately, this means that there will be a former Vol at each of the sites: The California Classic will feature second-year player Dalton Knecht, the Salt Lake City S.L. will feature Jahmai Mashack, and the NBA 2K26 Summer League will feature Knecht, Mashack, Chaz Lanier, Jordan Gainey, and Zakai Zeigler.
