Tennessee football has the chance to bolster its offensive line this weekend.

On Friday, J.B. Shabazz, a four-star offensive tackle, is set to announce his commitment. The Vols received an Expert Prediction from a pair of On3 reporters to land him over South Carolina.

That’s not it, either. Jax Tanner, a three-star interior offensive lineman, will also make his announcement on Saturday. He is deciding between Tennessee, Boise State, BYU, Michigan and Oregon.

Tanner is a 6-foot-4, 275-pound lineman out of Meridian, Idaho. According to 247, he ranks as the No. 31 inside lineman and No. 2 player out of his state. 247 composite rankings have him listed as the No. 428 player in the country for the 2026 cycle.

In 2024, Tanner was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Idaho while not giving up a single sack. He also competes in track and field as a shot put and discus thrower.

This summer, Tanner made his round of trips to check out his finalists on official visits. On May 31, he began the string with a trip to see Michigan. On June 6, he went to see Oregon.

He made his visit to see Tennessee on June 13. His primary recruiter is offensive line coach Glen Elarbee. He initially picked up his Vols offer back in December of 2024. His official visit is believed to be the first time he has made the trip to Knoxville from out west.

Tanner rounded out his list of official visits by looking at Boise State on June 18 and BYU on June 19.

There are currently no public predictions on where Tanner will play at the next level. However, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Oregon an 85.2% chance to win the battle.

The Vols currently hold just two commitments from linemen in the 2026 class. Gabriel Osenda checks in as a five-star recruit via 247. He is the No. 19 overall recruit and No. 4 tackle, according to the site.

The other commitment is from interior lineman Edward Baker. He is a three-star recruit out of Baltimore, Maryland, and ranks as the No. 50 interior lineman on 247.
