Kansas transfer pitcher Cooper Moore visited Tennessee baseball this week according to a post on his Instagram story.

Moore earned Second Team All-Big 12 honors during his sophomore season, starting 14 games and posting a 7-3 record, 3.96 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. The right-handed pitcher struck out 85 batters while walking just 19 in 88.2 innings pitched.

The Bixby, Oklahoma native is a draft eligible sophomore for the 2025 MLB Draft. Moore is not in MLB Pipeline’s top 250 prospects list ahead of the draft this weekend but is a draft candidate and could opt to start his professional career instead of playing one more collegiate season.

Tennessee baseball has a handful of strong starting pitching candidates for next season. RHP Tegan Kuhns is back for his sophomore year and was the Vols’ Sunday starter a season ago. Rutgers transfer RHP Landon Mack and Virginia transfer LHP Evan Blanco also bring weekend starting experience to Tennessee.

Moore does have experience coming out of the bullpen in his freshman season, posting a 4.05 ERA In 29 appearances and 33.1 innings pitched.

The Vols have had a massive overhaul on their pitching staff this roster, losing 20 pitchers to the transfer portal. LHP Dylan Loy is the only one of those pitchers who had a major role for Tennessee in 2025 with the other 19 pitchers combining to throw less than eight innings in SEC play.

Tony Vitello and his staff have been active restocking the pitching staff through the portal. Tennessee has 12 players committed out of the transfer portal with 10 of them being transfers.

That group includes Duke LHP Mark Hindy, Virginia LHP Evan Blanco, Rutgers RHP Landon Mack, Rice two-way Blaine Brown, Big South Pitcher of the Year Clay Edmondson (UNC Asheville), SoCon Pitcher of the Year Brady Frederick (ETSU), Kennesaw State’s RHP Bo Rhudy, MIT’s RHP Mason Estrada and Bowling Green two-way star DJ Newman. Tennessee has also hosted Southern Cal RHP Brodie Purcell on a visit.
