The 2025 MLB Draft rolls on Monday with the fourth through 20 rounds in what should be a rapid fire afternoon of draft picks.

It was an eventful first day of the draft for Tennessee with eight Vols going on the first day of the draft including four Vols going in the first round. Tennessee pitchers Liam Doyle, Gavin Kilen, Andrew Fischer and Marcus Phillips went in the first round before AJ Russell, Dean Curley and Tanner Franklin went in the second round. Nate Snead was the Vols’ lone third round selection.

On top of the current Tennessee players, three Vol signees were selected in the first round of the draft including two (Steele Hall and Billy Carlson) in the first 10 picks.

While it was a busy first night of the draft for Tennessee, there’s still a number of storylines to follow on day two. Most notably, what happens with Henry Ford, Cameron Appenzeller and Ethan Moore.

Ford (Virginia OF transfer) and Appenzeller (left-handed prep signee) both projected as first night selections but fell out of the top 100 picks. The further they fall, the more likely it is that they make it to campus. While Moore (infield prep signee) didn’t project as a first night selection, he is still a draft risk and the same principle holds true for him.

It’s also worth tracking where Tennessee JUCO commits Matt Barr and Tyler Myatt go. Both are draft risks, especially Barr who could go early on day two.

Then there’s still a number of current Vols who project as draft picks. LHP Brandon Arvidson should come off the board early on day two while OF Reese Chapman, C Cannon Peebles and utility man Dalton Bargo will all likely be drafted at some point.
