Tennessee football’s attempt to reel in one of the best players in the state has come up just short.

The Vols missed out on in-state, four-star offensive lineman Kamari Blair out of Clarksville, Tennessee on Wednesday night. He picked South Carolina over UT and Ole Miss. Prior to whittling the list down to three, he also considered Florida State, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

According to Rivals, he is No. 224 recruit in the country, No. 22 offensive tackle and No. 7 player out of the state.

Blair was recently in Knoxville for his official visit. He saw Josh Heupel and Tennessee on June 20 to mark the final official stop of a stretch of trips. He got to Ole Miss on June 13 and South Carolina just before that on June 6. He also visited Wisconsin on May 30.

This wasn’t his first time being on UT’s campus, either. He was also in town on May 24 after picking up his offer on May 13. He took a visit last season on November 23 as Tennessee defeated UTEP.

Tennessee holds 21 commitments in the 2026 class. The Vols hold the No. 9 class in the country on 247 and No. 15 on Rivals.

This would have been the fourth addition to the offensive line for the Vols in the class, as well, if Blair had picked UT. The headliner is five-star tackle Gabriel Osenda, who ranks as the No. 19 player in the cycle, according to 247. Tennessee also owns the recent commitment of tackle J.B. Shabazz, who ranks as a four-star recruit on Rivals.

On the interior, Edward Baker is a three-star prospect who previously committed. Tennessee is also targeting five-star interior lineman Darius Gray, who included the Vols in his recent top five.
