Seven Tennessee Inductees Honored at Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame

The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame inducted seven U.T. legends into the 2025 class on Saturday in Nashville.

The inductees represent Vols and Lady Vols who etched (and one who still currently is) their names into U.T. history with remarkable careers and were honored for that in the 2025 class.

In addition to the seven inductees, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes was honored with the Pat Summitt Lifetime Achievement Award at the event on Saturday.

Here’s a look at the seven U.T. inductees who earned their spot in the Tennessee Hall of Fame this weekend:

Chamique Holdsclaw

  • 3x NCAA Champion
  • 2x NCAA Tournament MVP
  • 2x Naismith College Player of the Year
  • 2x AP Player of the Year
  • 4x All-American (USBWA)
  • USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year (1997)

Tamika Catchings

  • 1x NCAA Champion
  • AP Player of the Year
  • Naismith College Player of the Year
  • 2x First Team All-American
  • 3x First Team All-SEC

Deon Grant

  • BCS National Champion
  • Consensus All-American (1999)
  • First Team All-SEC (1999)

Andy Kelly

  • Led Tennessee to victory in “The Miracle at South Bend”
  • 2x Second Team All-SEC

Doug Matthews

  • Former Running Backs Coach and Defensive Coordinator (1980-1989) under Johnny Majors
  • Tennessee Sports Radio and TV Analyst

Ron Slay

  • SEC Basketball Legend (2017)
  • Tennessee Basketball All-Century Team
  • SEC Player of the Year (2003)
  • Third Team All-American
  • First Team All-SEC
  • 2x SEC Player of the Week

Chris Woodruff

  • Played at Tennessee from 1991-1993
  • Longtime Tennessee men’s tennis coach (Became head coach in 2017)
  • Helped lead Tennessee to SEC titles in 2010, 2011, and 2021
  • Coached two different NCAA Doubles Championship tandems
  • 40 All-America and 53 All-SEC selections under his watch

Rick Barnes (Pat Summitt Lifetime Achievement Award)

  • 232-109 record at Tennessee (10 seasons)
  • 7 NCAA Tournament Appearances at UT
  • 836-423 career record
