With fall camp just a week from getting underway, Tennessee football’s trio of scholarship quarterbacks and members of its offensive line got together for a dinner on Wednesday evening.
The Knoxville Mexican restaurant ‘Celestina’ hosted the team and posted pictures with the attending members on its Instagram.
Pictured were the three quarterbacks, Joey Aguilar, Jake Merklinger and George MacIntyre. Offensive linemen in the photo included Wendell Moe Jr., Jesse Perry, Gage Ginther, David Sanders Jr., Shamurad Umarov, Bennett Warren, Lance Heard, Gus Hill and Antoni Ogumoro.

Aguilar’s quick connection with the team has been the biggest story since his arrival on campus. At SEC Media Days a week ago, returning tight end Miles Kitselman noted how little time it took for him to connect with everyone on the team.
“Joey is one of those guys who has a very outgoing personality,” Kitselman said. “He walks into a room and is automatically friends with everybody. Whenever he first committed, I hit him up on Instagram and said, man, love to have you. Let’s go out and get a bite to eat and let’s get to know each other. We were just off since then. We get along super well. He gets along with everybody. Him and Jake and George, they all thrive together. They all compete with each other. And I don’t think we could have asked for a better dude.”
For Merklinger, it’ll be his second year with most of the linemen. There are two transfers in Sam Pendleton and Moe and a true freshman in Sanders. Outside of that, he’s been able to spend the past year connecting with the group up front.
MacIntyre is in the same boat as Aguilar, but does have a bit more time with the group. As an early enrollee, he has been with the team since the winter and just went through fall camp.
