Tennessee baseball transfer commit Tyler Myatt has spent most the summer raking in the Appy League. But Myatt recently moved up to the Cape Cod League, facing a higher dose of competition to end his summer.

The stiffer competition was no problem for Myatt. In his first game with the Orleans Firebirds in the Cape Cod League, Myatt bashed a 471 foot home run.

The 471-foot home run would have been the longest of Tennessee baseball’s 2025 season. Myatt’s long ball is made all the more impressive by the fact that it was in a wood bat league.

A redshirt freshman, Myatt earned NJCAA Player of the Year honors last season for Walters State. Myatt hit .484 with 31 home runs and 110 RBIs. The left-handed hitter broke the Senators’ single-season home run and RBI records. Myatt was a driving force on Walters State’s run to the JUCO World Series finals game.

More From RTI: Outfielder Reese Chapman Returning To Tennessee Baseball For Senior Season

Perfect Game ranked Myatt as the No. 14 junior college prospect in the country during the 2025-26 season. He committed to Tennessee over LSU and Texas A&M.

Myatt mostly served as designated hitter for Walters State last season making it interesting to see where he’ll fit on Tennessee’s roster next season. The Tazewell, Tennessee native is capable of playing the corner outfield spots and second base.

The Vols return right fielder Reese Chapman and also landed Virginia corner outfielder Henry Ford out of the transfer portal. Second base is one of the most intriguing position battles on Tennessee’s roster with San Diego State transfer Finley Bates and freshman Ethan Moore joining Myatt as two of the main contenders.

Myatt’s success in the Cape Cod League will continue to be interesting to track to close the summer. The Cape Cod League is the nation’s top collegiate summer league. If Myatt produces there then it will bode well for what he can do in the SEC.
