The big storyline around Tennessee football this fall is the upcoming quarterback battle. One of the participants in that group is former App State quarterback/UCLA transfer Joey Aguilar, who arrived in Knoxville after the spring camp slate and the drama that unfolded with former quarterback Nico Iamaleava.
Aguilar had his first appearance with the media on Tuesday during UT’s in-house media day before the team kicks off fall camp practices on Wednesday morning in Knoxville.
With UT making multiple players available at the same time on Tuesday, Aguilar’s spot drew the biggest crowd. It’s not every season that you get a new quarterback making his practice debut exactly one month before the start of the regular season, but that’s the present situation in Knoxville.
Aguilar spoke to the crowd for more than 20 minutes, hitting on topics such as his arrival to Rocky Top, the other quarterbacks in the room, and getting to know the offense the scheme. He also talked about why he’s excited to be in orange and the timeline of his commitment to UT.
