A pair of former Tennessee football wide receivers who shared the field may be teaming back up in the NFL.

On Thursday, the San Francisco 49ers signed Marquez Callaway to a one-year deal. To make room for Callaway and other signings, two rostered receivers were cut.

This potentially will team Callaway up with his former Vols teammate Jauan Jennings. The only hurdle is that Jennings is reportedly in dispute over his contract. While he has not officially demanded a trade, he has been in discussions with the 49ers about a new deal. If no agreement can be reached, he indicated a trade may be an option.

Despite this, Jennings did take part in practices with San Francisco to open fall camp. He is currently sitting out due to a calf injury, though.

Callaway joins the franchise after bouncing around the league since his debut. He signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in April of 2020 and quickly turned heads. Through multiple stints with the team, he has spent the majority of his career there.

He has also played for the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Over the course of his career, he has played in 47 games and started in 17. In this time, he has notched 83 catches for 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns.

Callaway played at Tennessee from 2016-19 under both Butch Jones and Jeremy Pruitt. In 42 appearances, he totalled 92 receptions for 1,646 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was also a dynamic punt returner. Callaway was an All-SEC Second-Team member in 2019.

He is from Warner Robins, Georgia, where he was a four-star recruit and No. 132 prospect in the country, according to 247.
