When Tennessee football hits the road to play Mississippi State this season, the Vols are going to be walking into a ‘White Out’ at Davis Wade Stadium. The Bulldogs will ask fans in attendance to wear all white while the team wears white uniforms with a white helmet featuring the interlocking ‘MSU’ logo and maroon facemask.
According to Mississippi State Athletics, the uniform ‘pays tribute to the 2000 team that claimed a 43-41 overtime victory over Texas A&M in the Independence Bowl – a game forever remembered for the rare snowstorm in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Dec. 31, 2000. Coach Jackie Sherrill and members of that team will be invited back to Starkville and recognized during the game.’
The matchup between the Vols and Bulldogs is scheduled for Sept. 27, 2025. For Tennessee, it is the fifth game on its schedule and its second SEC matchup. UT will open things up on Aug. 30 against Syracuse in Atlanta. The following week, the Vols will match up with ETSU.
On Sept. 13, Georgia comes to Knoxville for the first SEC game of the season. The following week, Tennessee will face UAB at home. This makes the game against Mississippi State the Vols’ first true road game of the season. It’ll be the first time Joey Aguilar, Jake Merklinger and George MacIntyre play in a true road SEC game.
Kickoff is in the ‘flex’ position. This means it will begin either between 3:30 and 4:30 or 6 and 8 p.m. ET.
