Former Tennessee teammates Joe Milton III and Princeton Fant saw action in the Dallas Cowboys’ final preseason game on Friday night. Both put up their own individual stats in the game against the Atlanta Falcons, but combined to make a big play together early in the third quarter.

With the running back lined up to the left side of Milton, the Cowboys’ offense faked the run to the right. Fant pulled back left as the lead blocker for a Milton run. The former Tennessee tight end made a nice block in open space to create a seal for Milton to run around and pick up the 18-yard rush.

The 4th-and-1 play ended up leading to a Dallas Cowboys touchdown on a pass from Milton.

Just two plays later, Milton connected with former South Carolina wide receiver Jalen Brooks for a beautiful 29-yard touchdown pass on the right side of the field. Milton put outstanding touch and power on the ball to drop it in perfectly.

Princeton Fant ended the game with one reception for seven yards, which came in the second quarter. Milton, on the other hand, put together a decent game to close down his preseason work. He finished with 132 yards and one touchdown on 10-of-18 passing, while also adding in four carries for 33 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Here’s a look at Milton’s first-quarter rushing touchdown in the Cowboys’ 31-13 win over the Falcons from Dallas:

Milton, acquired by Dallas via trade with the New England Patriots during the spring, was competing with former Florida/West Virginia quarterback Will Grier for the Cowboys’ second-string spot behind Dak Prescott throughout the preseason. With Dallas wanting to get the former Tennessee signal caller ingrained in their system in case of emergency for the regular season, he took the majority of the snaps at quarterback in the Cowboys’ three preseason games.

In games against the Rams, the Ravens, and the Falcons, Milton totaled 397 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions on 36-of-65 passing. He also added in 61 total rush yards.
