Tennessee football is less than a week away from opening up its 2025 season against Syracuse at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. That means we’re on the brink of game week. The Monday of game week always means the first depth chart release of the season from Tennessee.

The Vols’ depth chart is full of “ORs” as Tennessee doesn’t tip its hand at its starters and often times its top backups. If Josh Heupel elects to release a depth chart, that will certainly prove to be the case again this season.

But we’re not trying to project what the depth chart Tennessee releases is going to look like. We’re trying to project what Tennessee’s actual depth chart looks like. Yesterday we took a look at the offensive side of the ball, and today we’re pivoting to the defensive side of the ball.

*Note: This depth chart does not include Jermod McCoy or Daevin Hobbs who will miss time early this season due to injury. When they get fully healthy, both will be at or near the top at their respective positions.
