On Aug. 8, Lady Vols basketball guard Ruby Whitehorn was arrested in Knox County. The report indicated that Whitehorn faces felony charges of aggravated burglary and domestic assault. Whitehorn was deemed the ‘primary aggressor’ according to officers. In the report, Whitehorn said she was attempting to defend herself during the incident and was trying to get her property back.
On Aug. 28, Tennessee women’s basketball head coach Kim Caldwell met with the media. She gave this update on the status of Whitehorn with the season just a few months away.
“It’s a frustrating situation,” Caldwell said. “We love Ruby, but she is suspended indefinitely. And because it’s an ongoing legal matter, that’s really all we’re allowed to discuss right now.”
