The Tennessee Volunteers will begin their 2025 regular season on Saturday afternoon in the Aflac Kickoff Game against Syracuse from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA. This will be a non-conference, neutral-site game to start the season and just the fourth all-time meeting between the Vols and the Orange on the gridiron.
Tennessee has revealed its uniforms for the game on Saturday at the home of the Falcons.
The Vols will be going with their classic orange-and-white home uniforms, featuring white helmets, orange jerseys, white pants, white accessories, and white cleats. There’s no surprise here with Tennessee being the designated home team in the game.
Tennessee has worn its traditional orange-and-white threads in every home opener under Josh Heupel except for the 2024 season. That includes 2021 against Bowling Green, 2022 against Ball State, and 2023 against Virginia. Last season, Tennessee kicked off the season by wearing its Volunteer State Smokey Grey uniforms against Chattanooga in the home/season opener at Neyland Stadium.

No. 24 Tennessee will take on Syracuse at Noon ET on Saturday in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Transfer quarterback Joey Aguilar will lead the Volunteers’ offense after winning the quarterback battle during fall camp.
Tennessee is currently a point favorite for the game against the Orange.
“I like who they are, how they compete, how they’ve grown,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said about his team at the start of the week. “You’re at the point in the year we got to prepare extremely well this week and get ready to go play. And game one, there is a lot of unknowns as far as what you’re seeing from the other side of the ball, their personnel, all of those things. You got to be able to communicate and adjust quickly and well during the course of a football game. But I like this team that we have. And they’ve handled themselves with great maturity. They’ve been extremely competitive. They’ve continued to grow. We need to do that this week and then go play.”
