Week 2 of the college football season is nearly here, which means that another slate of games is about to kick off for fans and the media around the nation to react to.

The first week of the season had plenty of chaotic moments in its own way. From Top 10 matchups to Top 25 upsets, Week 1 presented a delicious appetizer for college football fans to sink their teeth into as they get settled in for the season to come.

Week 2 still has plenty of cupcake games around the conference, but there are some very interesting matchups on the table, as well. That includes our first SEC battle of the season with Ole Miss traveling to Lexington to take on Kentucky.

SEC Games to Look Out For During Week 2

No. 20 Ole Miss at Kentucky

Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels get an early conference opener this year as they travel north to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats. The Rebels put up 63 points in an opening victory over Georgia State last weekend in Oxford, while the Wildcats struggled to put away Toledo at Kroger Field.

The Rebels are currently a point road favorite against the Wildcats on Saturday. That’s by no means surprising considering the teams at hand, but Kentucky notably did upset Ole Miss last season in Oxford. Their last three meetings, dating back to 2020, have been separated by a total of seven points.

Ole Miss and Kentucky will square off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in Lexington.

South Florida at No. 13 Kentucky

Wouldn’t it be something if former Tennessee assistant coach Alex Golesh was able to take his Bulls into Gainesville and knock off a Top 15 Gators team this Saturday? That’s exactly what South Florida is looking to do as they travel to The Swamp for an in-state matchup.

The Bulls aren’t scared to play competition. In Week 1, South Florida knocked off No. 25 Boise State by a score of 34-7 for a statement season-opening win. They’ll take a motivated, underdog attitude into Gainesville on Saturday afternoon to see if they can pull a second straight upset here in 2025. The Gators, meanwhile, are looking to defend home turf in their first true matchup of the season. Florida defeated Long Island University 55-0 in the opener last week for a stress-free start to the year.

Florida is a big favorite on Saturday, though. The Gators are currently a point favorite against Golesh’s scrappy USF team. It’ll definitely be a good one to monitor when flipping through the channels on Saturday with a hint of upset potential at play.

No. 15 Michigan at No. 18 Oklahoma

Get your popcorn ready for this one. The last game that we’ll be looking at for Week 2 is the College GameDay-bound matchup between Michigan and Oklahoma in a high-profile non-conference clash on Saturday night. These are two teams that are looking to take the next step forward this weekend, but neither can do so without winning this game first.

New quarterbacks John Mateer (Oklahoma) and Bryce Underwood (Michigan) will have their hands full on Saturday and will need to step up and put a strong showing forth if they want to head into Sunday with a win. This game should not only tell us quite a bit about both teams, but also both quarterbacks in the process.

Oklahoma is a point favorite heading into the game on Saturday. The Sooners are coming off a 35-3 win over Illinois State, while the Wolverines had their hands full with a 34-17 win over New Mexico this past Saturday. ESPN’s Matchup Predictor has it close, but is favoring the home team at 53.5%.
