Tennessee football is going through warmups an hour ahead of its home opening clash against ETSU inside Neyland Stadium. With no official injury reports for out-of-conference games, we didn’t have full confirmation of who would play and who wouldn’t until this point.
By looking to see who is dressed out in warmups and getting confirmation on some other inactvities in the press box, we now know what the roster looks like vs. ETSU.
Here’s a look at who isn’t participating.

OL David Sanders Jr.
Sanders is not dressed out for warmups after missing the season opener against Syracuse. It would’ve been his career debut, but that will now have to wait for at least another week. If he is able to go next Saturday, it’d make his first-ever game at the college level against Georgia.
Vols head coach Josh Heupel gave this update following the win over the Orange:
“Just late in practice on Wednesday kind of got nicked up,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said. “Anticipated him being able to play. This morning, our medical staff just felt like it probably wasn’t the right thing to do. We are always going to be mindful of our guys and their health. If they get cleared they’re ready to roll and we’ll go play with them.”
DE Tyree Weathersby
Weathersby has dealt with a lot of injuries in his career, but had seemingly a clean slate of health entering his redshirt-sophomore season. In the opener, he played the second-most snaps at defensive end behind just Dominic Bailey. With a thin defensive front, his role became even more important with Bailey occasionally sliding inside.
In the opener, he produced six tackles with four solo efforts. This should make way for more snaps for Tyre West and Mariyon Dye against ETSU.
