Tennessee right-handed pitcher Anson Seibert will miss the entirety of fall practice after undergoing an elbow procedure, KnoxNews Mike Wilson first reported and a source confirmed to RTI. The injury is expected to sideline Seibert for 12-16 weeks according to the source.
If the injury recovery goes as expected, Seibert would be back and ready to roll for preseason practice and the start of the 2026 season. But missing the fall is undoubtedly a setback after Seibert missed fall practice and the entirety of his freshman season after undergoing arm surgery in the summer of 2024.
Seibert was one of the highest rated recruits in Tennessee’s 2024 recruiting class, and along with Tegan Kuhns, made up a talented pitching class to make it to campus.
The 6-foot-8, 235-pound pitcher is one of just five pitchers that is returning to Tennessee from last year’s super regional squad. Kuhns, who spent most of his freshman season as the Vols’ Sunday starter, along with RHP Brayden Krenzel, RHP Nic Abraham and LHP Brandon Arvidson are back from last season’s team.

Ahead of fall practice, Seibert projected as a weekend bullpen arm with an outside chance to earn a weekend starting spot for Tennessee this sesason.
While Tennessee lost an abundance of pitchers to the transfer portal this offseason, the Vols landed a multitude of transfer pitchers projected to contribute this season. That group includes Rutgers RHP Landon Mack, Rice OF/RHP Blaine Brown, Virginia LHP Evan Blanco, ETSU RHP Brady Frederick, Kennesaw State RHP Bo Rhudy and Duke LHP Mark Hindy.
Vitello’s program is coming off a strong season where they made it to the super regionals. But after the program’s recent success even Vitello has admitted that missing Omaha has left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth. Over the last five years, Tennessee has won the SEC Regular Season and Tournament twice each, won five regionals, made it to the College World Series three times and won the 2024 National Championship.
Expectations are again high for Tennessee this season as they look to make it back to the College World Series after coming up two games short last season.
