No. 15 Tennessee is off to a 2-0 start to begin the 2025 season with wins over Syracuse and ETSU in the first two weeks. But while those wins have done enough to boost Josh Heupel’s group nine spots to the Top 15, the Vols’ first real test will begin this Saturday afternoon in Knoxville.
The Volunteers will host No. 6 Georgia in the SEC opener at 3:30 p.m. in Neyland Stadium. Both staffs have been preparing for this game for several months now. While it won’t necessarily have do-or-die playoff implications this early in the season, a win for either side will go a long way in getting that team one step closer to the tournament at the end of the year.
Josh Heupel opened up the week with his usual Monday afternoon press conference from UT’s campus. He spoke for just over 10 minutes, diving into questions about his team as it prepares for the high-profile game ahead. Heupel spoke about preparing for Georgia and the Bulldogs’ weapons, the anticipation of physical play this weekend, Tennessee’s transfer portal philosophy, and more.
In addition to Heupel, Tennessee also had three players speak to the media on Monday: RB Star Thomas, DL Dominic Bailey, and DB Andre Turrentine.
