With under 24 hours until Tennessee football meets Georgia on the gridiron, the Vols have released their list of team captains for the SEC opener in Knoxville. UT does captains on a game-by-game basis, but often a lot of the picks repeat throughout the season.

For the third game of the year, there were two repeats and two first-time captains for the season. It’ll be long snapper Bennett Brady and tight end Miles Kitselman at the coin toss after both also represented the team in the opener against Syracuse. They’ll be joined by LEO Joshua Josephs and linebacker Jeremiah Telander for the first time.

Brady is a redshirt junior who has spent his entire career with Tennessee behind Matthew Salansky. He saw occasional action in relief throughout his career, but has never been the starting long snapper for the Vols until this year.

Kitselman is in his second year with Tennessee after a long journey to become a contributor at this level. He began at the junior college level before transferring to Alabama. After not seeing much time on the field with the Tide, he transferred to the Vols. In 2024, he started in all 13 games while posting 301 receiving yards and four touchdowns. So far in 2025, he has caught five passes for 46 yards and a touchdown.

Josephs is in his senior year after spending his entire college career with Tennessee. Josephs has been the starting LEO in both games this season, replacing the departing James Pearce Jr., who was picked in the first round of the NFL draft. Through two games, he’s lived up to the hype, delivering six tackles, two sacks and forcing a fumble.

Telander is a junior linebacker who starts alongside Arion Carter. Carter was a captain in the season opener, with backup linebacker Edwin Spillman getting the nod in game two against ETSU. This time, Telander is getting his turn as a captain. In 2025, he has notched six tackles, a tackle for loss and an interception.
