Tennessee football hasn’t had any issue putting up points this year. While the defense has left some room to be desired, the Vols still look like they could compete for another 10-win season and possibly reach the College Football Playoffs. Despite a mostly strong showing in the 44-41 loss to Georgia in overtime, the spread isn’t as far in the favor of UT against UAB as you might think.
According to CircaSports, Tennessee is favored by 35 points in the game against the Blazers. With rare exceptions, the Vols have beaten up on weaker opponents and hung massive numbers inside Neyland Stadium against them.
While UAB isn’t an FCS foe like the ETSU team UT recently beat, it is still far from Tennessee’s caliber. The Blazers opened with just a 52-42 win over Alabama State before losing 38-24 to Navy. This past week, they won 31-28 over Akron.
The over/under for the game is set at 65. The over has hit in all three games for both teams at this point in the season.

Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar also took a leap in the Vegas odds to win the Heisman Trophy after his showing against the Bulldogs. He entered the season with +8000 odds to win the trophy. Going into the Georgia game, it was already cut down to +5000. That was tied for the 22nd-best odds to win the award in the country. Now, according to FanDuel on the morning of Sept. 14, 2025, Aguilar has +1600 odds to win the Heisman Trophy. This is tied for the fifth-best mark in the country.
Aguilar has now amassed 906 passing yards and nine touchdowns through just three games. This is on pace for an absurd 3,624 yards and 36 touchdowns. He did throw two picks in the loss to Georgia, but one was essentially an arm-punt on third down, and the other came after receiver Braylon Staley slipped.
In the Georgia game, Aguilar had his finest showing yet. He completed 24-of-36 passes for 371 yards and four touchdowns, along with the two picks. He did take his first sack of his UT career, but also ran in a touchdown for the first time as a Vol.
The next test could help him raise these odds even more. Tennessee hosts a shaky UAB team on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. ET. Kickoff will air on SEC Network.
