On Saturday morning, while taking an official visit to see Tennessee, five-star power forward Oliviyah Edwards committed to the Lady Vols basketball program. With Tennessee football hosting Georgia that day, it meant she could spend the rest of the trip on campus, meeting alumni and people around the university, knowing that’s where she would attend. This included Tennessee football legend Peyton Manning.

In a post on her X account, Edwards said: “Definitely a cool experience when Peyton Manning is excited you committed.” Attached to the post was a photo of her, wearing checkerboard overalls, talking with Manning.

Manning was also seen chatting with five-star quarterback commit Faizon Brandon before the game started. With Lady Vols legend Candace Parker also in attendance, having star-studded alums certainly is proving its worth on the recruiting trail.

Edwards, a consensus five-star and the No. 2 player in the class on ESPNW, wrapped up her official visit on Sunday. This was her second time in Knoxville after she had previously taken an unofficial visit in January.

She began the process of locking in official visits on July 26, with Tennessee the first school she announced she’ll be visiting. Other schools making pushes for Edwards and who have already hosted her on unofficial visits are USC, South Carolina and Washington. It’s unclear if she still intends to take official visits to other programs despite her commitment.

Edwards is a 6-foot-3 power forward with elite athleticism. She has displayed the ability to dunk with ease before her senior year of high school had even begun.

“Edwards is a fantastic frontcourt option when sprinting the lane in the open floor,” 247 women’s basketball director of scouting Brandon Clay wrote. “In that regard, she is the most intriguing prospect in the class right now. She possesses a physical toolbox that no one else has. Edwards is also showing signs of making the 15-18 foot jumper when her feet are set. Her calling card is her willingness to rebound the basketball and be impactful in the paint.”
