Is this the year that Tennessee football can bring home the prestigious Heisman Trophy for the first time? According to a poll conducted by On3 of a group of its college football writers, both Vols wide receiver Chris Brazzell II and quarterback Joey Aguilar are in the mix. Neither made the top 10, but both were sitting just outside, receiving multiple votes.

Brazzell clocked in with the 13th-most points from the voters at five. This left him five points behind Cal quarterback Jaron-Keave Sagapolutele for a top 10 spot. Also in the way of Brazzell cracking into the list were Baylor quarterback Saylor Robertson and Texas A&M wide receiver Mario Craver. This did mean he received the second-most votes of a wide receiver, though.

Behind Brazzell, Aguilar got three points, including one from Chris Low. This tied him for 17th. The list is topped by Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer, followed by signal callers Tommy Castellanos of Florida State and Carson Beck of Miami.

Brazzell currently has no listed betting odds to win the Heisman Trophy. He is coming off a terrific game, the best of his career, against Georgia, though. He notched six receptions for 177 yards and three touchdowns. This included two scores of over 50 yards out.

On the season, Brazzell has already topped his mark for receiving yards and touchdowns from a year ago. He’s at 20 catches for 364 yards and five touchdowns.

According to FanDuel on the morning of Sept. 14, 2025, Aguilar has +1600 odds to win the Heisman Trophy. This is tied for the fifth-best mark in the country. He has now amassed 906 passing yards and nine touchdowns through just three games. This is on pace for an absurd 3,624 yards and 36 touchdowns. He did throw two picks in the loss to Georgia, but one was essentially an arm-punt on third down, and the other came after receiver Braylon Staley slipped.

In the Georgia game, Aguilar had his finest showing yet. He completed 24-of-36 passes for 371 yards and four touchdowns, along with the two picks. He did take his first sack of his UT career, but also ran in a touchdown for the first time as a Vol.

The next test could help both offensive stars raise their stock even more. Tennessee hosts a non-impressive UAB team on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. ET. Kickoff will air on SEC Network.
