Tennessee Football and head coach Josh Heupel have their sights set on a talented 2027 wide receiver from the Volunteer State. The only issue, though, is that he’s been an Oregon commit for nearly two months now. Heupel and his staff will have to flip him away from Dan Lanning and the Ducks if they want to see him on Rocky Top.
Bowman, a four-star prospect from Brentwood Academy in Nashville, TN, recently took a visit to Knoxville for the Vols’ game against Georgia last weekend. The 6-foot-1 receiver took in all the sights and sounds of the College GameDay and Checker Neyland atmosphere, and watched Tennessee hang 41 points on a talented defense over the course of four quarters and overtime.
But while the game didn’t go Tennessee’s way in the end, there was reportedly still plenty that was impressive about Rocky Top.
According to Rivals’ Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons, Chris Brazzell’s 177-yard, three-touchdown game was something that caught Bowman’s eye. Bowman told Simmons in an interview that Brazzell’s standout game “stood out” during his trip. Bowman also mentioned having “great” conversations with Tennessee wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope.
Josh Heupel’s offense was on full display in front of Bowman. The Vols racked up 496 total yards with 371 coming through the air and the passing game. Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar threw 36 passes and completed 24 of them with 10.3 yards per throw.
Perhaps Bowman saw himself in Brazzell’s shoes while watching the Vols’ offense on Saturday.

According to Rivals’ Industry Rankings, Bowman ranks as the No. 51 player in the 2027 class, the No. 10 receiver in the nation, and the No. 2 player from the state of Tennessee. He committed to Oregon on July 24, but appears to be keeping his options open while reportedly taking some trips this fall.
Bowman holds nearly 40 scholarship offers, including powerhouse programs such as Tennessee, Oregon, Ole Miss, Michigan, Ohio State, Miami, Florida State, Georgia, Texas A&M, Florida, Auburn, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Another high-end receiver prospect that may have seen himself in Brazzell’s shoes was five-star Tennessee commit Tristen Keys. The Mississippi native was a longtime LSU commit, but Tennessee was able to flip his 2026 commitment this past August to add a statement player to its Top 10-ranked recruiting class.
Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider for more recruiting updates as Tennessee Football looks to close out the 2026 class and ramp things up with the 2027 cycle.
