Tennessee baseball is hitting the road this fall for a pair of intrasquad scrimmages across the Volunteer State. The Vols will scrimmage in both Chattanooga and Nashville this fall.

The Vols will scrimmage at AT&T Field in Chattanooga at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 4. They’ll make the trek to the mid-state for an intrasquad at First Horizon Park in Nashville on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. ET. Tickets will be made available for both games at the Chattanooga Lookouts and Nashville Sounds websites, respectively.

Tennessee’s two instrasquad scrimmages come in place of fall exhibition games. The Vols have played two fall exhibitions for a number of years and have often held them at different venues across the state to allow fans to get an early look at the team. Tony Vitello’s ninth squad will keep the trend of hitting the road but this fall it’ll be against themselves and not outside opponents.

Vitello’s squad will scrimmage frequently throughout fall practice at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. They could do their Orange & White Fall World Series that is open to the public. In past years, Tennessee has played its fall world series games in Chattanooga and at the old Smokies Stadium in Kodak. They have not announced their plans for this year’s fall world series at this time.

Tennessee officially begins fall practice this week and is holding its first fall scrimmage this Thursday before heading to Chattanooga nine days later.

The Vols will have a number of position battles this fall and middle infield is one of the main open competitions. Moore will compete for a starting spot, likely at second base, with others like Manny Marin, Ariel Antigua and San Diego State infielder Finley Bates.

Vitello’s program is coming off a strong season where they made it to the super regionals. But after the program’s recent success even Vitello has admitted that missing Omaha has left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth. Over the last five years, Tennessee has won the SEC Regular Season and Tournament twice each, won five regionals, made it to the College World Series three times and won the 2024 National Championship.
