Tennessee Football left Starkville on Saturday night with its first road win and first SEC win of the season. The Vols battled Mississippi State in an instant classic, pulling out the 41-34 victory behind a final overtime score from Tennessee running back DeSean Bishop.
Tennessee moves to 4-1 on the season with the win.
It wasn’t always pretty, and it certainly wasn’t easy, but the resilience that Josh Heupel’s unit showed on Saturday in Starville was nothing short of impressive. Quarterback Joey Aguilar continued to look strong in the offense, while the defense fought hard through the ups and downs of the game. A road win in the SEC is never easy, and it’s one that Tennessee can take a lot from moving forward.
