Former Tennessee football wide receiver Cedric Tillman is scheduled to miss multiple weeks due to injury. The Cleveland Browns wideout suffered a hamstring injury in the loss to the Detroit Lions, leading to his placement on the IR. This means he will have to miss a minimum of four games before he is eligible to return.

Through three weeks, Tillman had totalled 10 catches for 100 yards and a team-leading two touchdown receptions. Before exiting the game on Sunday in Week Four, Tillman had caught one of two targets for six yards.

His first touchdown of the year was a memorable one, as well. On a drive that his former Vols and current Browns teammate Dylan Sampson set up, he completed it with a touchdown catch in the red zone. It was nearly all Tennessee players leading that drive.

His second was a circus catch that miraculously ended up in his hands after a deflection.

Tillman started his career at Tennessee in 2018, but struggled to carve out a role as a freshman. In 2019, he played in 11 games, but caught just four passes for 60 yards and a score. In 2020, the Covid-shortened season, he played in all 10 games while grabbing three passes for 67 yards and a touchdown.

With Jeremy Pruitt being fired after the season, he stuck around through the coaching change to Josh Heupel. This proved to be a great decision as he burst onto the scene in 2021. He played in all 13 games while catching 64 passes for 1,081 yards and 12 touchdowns as Hendon Hooker’s go-to option.

In 2022, he returned, but battled injury after an unfortunate game against Akron. He would play in six games while catching 37 balls for 417 yards and three touchdowns.

As a result, he was drafted No. 74 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Browns.
