Tennessee football rookie Omarr Norman-Lott will not play on Monday Night Football for the Kansas City Chiefs on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The second-round pick defensive tackle is dealing with a shoulder injury that will hold him out of the contest.

Norman-Lott missed the Chiefs’ opener, as well, but returned to play in three straight games. In those trio of appearances, he has produced four tackles and a sack.

According to PFF, Norman-Lott has played 54 total snaps. 18 of these were when the opponent ran the ball, while 35 saw him pass rush. He also dropped into coverage on one snap. PFF grades his total efforts at 50.2.

While Norman-Lott won’t be able to give it a go on Monday, there is still a Vol to keep an eye on for Kansas City. Trey Smith, fresh off an off-season payday, has been one of the best interior linemen in the NFL this year. He’ll start at right guard for the Chiefs.

Norman-Lott was a second-rounder in the recent draft despite being projected in the third and fourth rounds this week and wasn’t even listed on Daniel Jeremiah’s Big Board of the Top 150 prospects. He was the 389th draft pick from Tennessee and the 15th of the Josh Heupel era in Knoxville.

Norman-Lott spent his first three years at Arizona State before transferring to Tennessee prior to the 2023 season. The California native spent two seasons with the Vols and went 19-7 on Rocky Top.

In his final season, the defensive tackle recorded 18 tackles and four sacks. In 2023, he produced 26 tackles and 5.5 sacks.

He is now one of four draft picks out of Tennessee in their rookie season. Outside linebacker James Pearce Jr. was a first-round pick to the Falcons. Running back Dylan Sampson and wide receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr. went to the Browns and the Raiders, respectively. Despite not being a draft pick, Elijah Simmons was signed off the Cardinals’ practice squad by the Buccaneers as he begins his career.
