Tennessee football picked up a crucial SEC win Saturday afternoon, knocking off Arkansas 34-31 at Neyland Stadium. The Vols never led in the first half, entering the locker room tied 17-17 despite getting just two stops in the first 30 minutes.
The Vols took control of the game in the third quarter when the defense forced four straight stops including two fumbles and another turnover on downs. Tennessee took the lead after opening the second half with a field goal drive and then extended their lead with back-to-back touchdowns late in the third quarter and early in the fourth quarter.
Taking a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter, Tennessee looked like it had put the game away. But Arkansas scored 14 straight before the Vols ran out the clock by picking up two first downs to end the game.
Following the game, RTI’s Ric Butler and Ryan Schumpert discussed an up-and-down game for the defense, Tennessee’s rushing success and much more. Check out the RTI reaction here.

Josh Heiple’s worst coaching job of the year so far. In the fourth quarter he played not to lose instead of playing to win. Tennessee blew a 17 point Advantage when Josh seemed to slow down the pace in the fourth quarter. Joey Aguilar was having a great day passing until Josh decided to run the ball on the ground to burn out the clock. Bobby Petrino coached a great game for Arkansas who had lost three games in a row. Alabama will stomp Tennessee next Saturday unless Josh Heiple gains some wisdom from this game with Arkansas.
