Tennessee Football RB DeSean Bishop Exits Arkansas Game With Lower-Body Injury

One of Tennessee football’s most consistent pieces on offense this season, running back DeSean Bishop, exited the game against Arkansas dude to injury. He broke off a 26-yard rush and was thrown to the ground with his leg getting caught under the Razorbacks’ defender.

Bishop was getting what appeared to be his right leg worked on while down on the field. He exited on his own weight with the assistance of trainers. He went to the sideline and did not go back to the locker room.

To replace him, Peyton Lewis entered with the ball at the seven. His first rush went for five yards to create second-and-goal. He punched it in from the two to give the Vols a 10-point advantage with little time left in the third quarter.

Before his injury, Bishop had produced 146 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Before his injury, that was the majority of the 205 yards on the ground that Tennessee had produced.

On the season, including his game against Arkansas, Bishop has earned 481 yards on the ground and five touchdowns. He has also recorded three receptions for 44 yards.

On the following drive after Tennessee forced a turnover, Lewis was the back again. The other running back to get action in the game has been Star Thomas. He’s run for 15 yards on six attempts. While they haven’t played yet in the game against Arkansas, other backs on the roster include freshmen Daune Morris and Justin Baker.

Tennessee’s game airs on the SEC Network. The Vols took a 27-17 lead into the fourth quarter, but capitalized on the turnover with another Lewis touchdown. This made it a 34-17 game for UT. Lewis had 20 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries to this point.
