Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel and a pair of Volunteer players met with the media on Monday afternoon in Knoxville as the team prepares for its Third Saturday in October rivalry contest this weekend against Alabama. The Vols and Crimson Tide are both riding multi-game win streaks into the game on Saturday, but something will have to give with a critical resume-boosting game on the line.
“Great historical game, rivalry game and I know it’ll be a great environment against a great football team and looking forward to it,” Heupel said on Monday. “Got to go do a great job in our preparation. You look at how they’re playing offensively, defensively, special teams, playing at a really high level right now.”
Heupel spoke to the media for about nine minutes on Monday as he talked about Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, the Vols’ third-down defense, Tennessee’s receiver room, UT’s rush defense, and more.
Tennessee also had two players speak to the media in defensive back Jalen McMurray and offensive lineman Jesse Perry.
