After wearing orange jerseys in varying versions of the Vols’ home uniform combination through the first six weeks of the season, Tennessee is officially set to break out the ‘Stormtrooper’ sets this Saturday night under the lights.

As announced by a post by Tennessee Football on social media, the Volunteers will don their all-white uniforms this weekend in the Third Saturday in October rivalry game against the Alabama Crimson Tide. The uniforms include Tennessee’s traditional white helmets, white road jerseys, white pants, black cleats, and black accessories. The jerseys have orange lettering and numbering, the helmets have one thick stripe going down the middle, and the pants have two orange stripes going down the sides.

It’s been a unique first half of the season for Tennessee from a uniform perspective. The Vols opened the season with a neutral site game against Syracuse, but still wore the classic orange-and-white look as the designated home team. Tennessee’s lone true road game so far ended up being a white-out for the home team, so the Vols brought their all-orange uniforms to Starkville for a matchup with the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Saturday’s game against the Crimson Tide will be Tennessee’s first this season with any sort of true road threads:

  • Week 1 (vs Syracuse in Atlanta): Orange-and-White
  • Week 2 (vs ETSU in Knoxville): Orange-and-White
  • Week 3 (vs Georgia in Knoxville): Orange-and-White
  • Week 4 (vs UAB in Knoxville): All-Orange
  • Week 5 (at Mississippi State in Starkville): All-Orange
  • Week 6 (BYE)
  • Week 7 (vs Arkansas in Knoxville): Orange-and-White
  • Week 8 (at Alabama in Tuscaloosa): All-White

No. 11 Tennessee and No. 6 Alabama both enter the game this Saturday with 5-1 records and multi-game win streaks. The Crimson Tide sits as an point favorite heading into the game. Alabama is also given a 72.7% chance to win, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index.
