The Third Saturday in October is here once again. After the two rivals split the last four meetings, Tennessee and Alabama will once again clash in a high-stakes SEC game on Saturday night in Bryant-Denny Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Both Tennessee and Alabama are riding multi-game win streaks into the game this weekend. Josh Heupel’s Volunteers are looking for their first ranked win of the season, while Kalen DeBoer’s group is looking to make it four ranked wins in four straight weeks against SEC foes. It’ll be a clash of the titans, with one team bolstering its playoff resume and the other falling behind in the standings.

Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar will lead the Vols’ offense into Tuscaloosa on Saturday night. Aguilar leads the SEC in passing yards, but not by much over Alabama’s Heisman contender Ty Simpson. Things project to be a high-scoring matchup, but as we know, you can throw out the stat books when it comes to a rivalry game as fierce as this one is. It’ll be about which team can play four quarters of strong football and find a win by any means necessary.

Previous Matchups

The Third Saturday in October is one of the most storied and longest-running rivalries in the Southeastern Conference. These two teams will continue to square off on a yearly basis as annual opponents in the new-look SEC schedule format moving forward.

Alabama leads the series 60-40-7, but things have begun to even out since the beginning of the Josh Heupel era. Heupel’s Vols are 2-2 against the Tide, but haven’t yet won in Tuscaloosa. Tennessee, as a whole, hasn’t won in Tuscaloosa since 2003. The Vols will look to change that on Saturday.
