Tennessee football suffered its second loss this Saturday when it fell 37-20 in Tuscaloosa to Alabama. However, despite some critical errors, it was still a decently strong game from quarterback Joey Aguilar. He threw for 268 yards, one touchdown and an interception on 28-of-44 passing.
As a result of the loss, his odds to win the Heisman Trophy took a major drop, though. According to FanDuel, he has +10000 odds to win the prestigious award. This ties him for the 14th-best odds in the country.
Aguilar is tied with the likes of John Mateer, Garrett Nussmeier, Sam Leavitt, Devon Dampier, Jayden Maiava and Brenden Sorsby at the mark. He is in a very similar boat as Mateer, Nussmeier and Maiava, where if their teams win out, he could still have a fighting chance. One more loss likely ends his hunt, though.
The favorite to win the award is Alabama’s Ty Simpson at +320. He’s coming off a great game against the Vols in which he produced 253 passing yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions on 19-of-29 passing.

If Aguilar does win the award, he’d be the first Vol to ever take home the trophy. Peyton Manning was a finalist in his last year in Knoxville, but was snubbed in the decision, losing to Michigan defensive back Charles Woodson. Current wide receiver Chris Brazzell has also emerged as a dark-horse option this year, but has no odds listed. He only caught one pass for five yards against Arkansas, though.
On the season, Aguilar is responsible for 1,948 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions through seven games. He’s run for a total of 97 yards for two touchdowns, as well.
Next, Tennessee heads north to play a struggling Kentucky team. The Wildcats just lost to Texas in overtime, but sit at 2-4 (0-4 SEC) on the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. ET and will air on SEC Network.
