Tennessee originally opened the week as a 9.5-point favorite over Kentucky when the two teams clash on Saturday night in Lexington.
Since then, though, there’s been some slight movement in the Wildcats’ direction. Tennessee currently sits as an point favorite heading into the game. It’s not by much, but it is a bit of a notable change. We’ll have to wait and see if it continues to move in Kentucky’s favor as the game draws closer, or if it settles into a touchdown-plus spot when the game rolls around this weekend.

More From RTI: ‘This Could Be a Tough Game For Tennessee’: Former SEC Coach Has Vols On Upset Alert Against Kentucky
Kentucky football is 2-4 on the season with a 0-4 record in SEC play. That doesn’t mean the Wildcats haven’t had some close calls, though. In the second week of the season, Kentucky fell to then-No. 20 Ole Miss by just one touchdown in Lexington. In last week’s home game against then-No. 21 Texas, Kentucky lost to the Longhorns by a field goal in overtime after outscoring Texas 13-3 in the second half of the game. Still, though, Kentucky’s best efforts haven’t resulted in a conference win yet.
The Wildcats began the season with a 24-16 win over Toledo before the loss to Ole Miss. Kentucky bounced back with a 48-23 win over Eastern Michigan, but has since dropped three-straight SEC games. The ‘Cats lost 35-13 at South Carolina, 35-14 at Georgia, and 16-13 at home against Texas.
Kentucky’s record echoes its production on the conference stat sheet. The Wildcats rank 14th in total offense and 15th in total defense among league competition.
Tennessee, meanwhile, is 5-2 on the season with a 2-2 record in conference play. Tennessee’s SEC victories have come in narrow wins over Mississippi State and Arkansas. The Vols defeated the Bulldogs in overtime from Starkville thanks to a DeSean Bishop touchdown run, while staving off a comeback bid from Arkansas in Knoxville in the final few minutes of that game. Tennessee’s two losses have come against Georgia at home and Alabama on the road.
Tennessee’s offensive and defensive league statistics are on opposite sides of the paper. The Vols’ total offense ranks second in the SEC at 511 yards per game, while their defense ranks second-to-last in the conference at 390.86 yards per game. When the two teams square off on Saturday, Tennessee’s offense will need to finish drives off in the endzone to keep the Wildcats’ offense from making too much noise with the ball itself.
